At the age of 86, one of the three founding fathers of the LZH passed away. Prof. Heinz Haferkamp founded the LZH in 1986 together with the professors Hans Kurt Tönshoff and Herbert Welling and had a lasting impact on the institute in more than 25 years on the Executive Board.

More than 700 publications, about 70 memberships in leading scientific organizations, numerous awards and, above all, the co-founding of prestigious research institutions, illustrate the outstanding commitment of Professor Heinz Haferkamp to science.

We thank Prof. Heinz Haferkamp for his services to the LZH and send our sincere condolences to his family.
