LZH scientist Patrick A. Taschner is one of three winners of the 2019 "Applied Photonics Award" for young scientists. The prize was awarded by the Thuringian Economics and Science Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee in the ZEISS Planetarium in Jena.
For his bachelor thesis "Fast beam deflection by means of acousto-optic deflection for laser micromachining" Patrick A. Taschner was awarded with a prize money of 1000 € in the category A.
The physics Nobel laureate Gérard Mourou was also present at the award ceremony on 18 September 2019 in Jena.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Mechanics (IOF) presents the "Applied Photonics Award" for young scientists annually alongside the Photonics Days.
