Abstract
In this paper, the influence on the thermal effect caused by high-power laser machining with respect to cutting edge characteristics and static strength properties of organic sheets based on a thermoplastic polyphenylene sulfide matrix is discussed. Within the frame of the investigations a fiber laser emitting at a wavelength of lamda = 1,070 nm at a maximum output power of PL = 6,000 W is used. Applying different process strategies, the resulting heat affected zone can be minimized and corresponding tensile strength as well as interlaminar shear strength measurements were performed.
