The article offers information on the experimental investigations by researchers of Laser Zentrum Hannover (LZH) on the protective systems for hand-operated laser material processing devices (HLDs). It states that development of protective clothing or system, one should consider the transmission criterion, heat transfer or energy balance, and secondary hazards and ergonomics. The study shows that protective equipment made of aramides and glass fiber provides better protection.
