Abstract
In many industries, to create viable and sustainable structures, steel and aluminium alloys are widely used. Technologically, the process of joining these materials has always caused great difficulties. By looking at the existing welding methods to join these materials, it is clear that there is no single universal and reliable process for all types of industrial applications. Very interesting are always additional materials that make a joint between two materials possible. This paper reviews the influence of silicon as an additional material. Evaluated is the influence on the structure and the weldability during non-vacuum electron beam welding.
