Abstract
We report a shooting-method to numerically solve a coupled 2-level Er3+:Yb3+-system and demonstrate that pumping single-frequency EYDFAs in MOPA configuration around 950nm rather than 976nm increases the Yb3+-ASE threshold while maintaining short fibre lengths.
