All-fiber arbitrary pulse form generation and amplification in Tm³+ doped optical fibers

Abstract
We report the generation and amplification of arbitrary pulse shapes by a MOPA system at a wavelength of 1950 nm30 kW peak power were achieved with clean 10 ns pulses free from spectral and temporal deteriorations. The system is a robust and fully alignment free monolithic fiber setup. An unique feature is a computer controlled seed module with advanced control of the pulse shape and repetition rate with burst mode option. To the best of our knowledge this is a first presentation of arbitrary pulse shaping and amplification to 100s µJ pulse energies in Tm3+ doped fibers.
